October Morning

Swishing tails, and long ribbons of mane along their necks,

Muscles twitch to shoo a fly,

Glossy coats from summer,

Warm, strong scent,

Grooming each other side by side,

Enjoying companionship.

Tails swish-

Ears flick-

Stomp.

Doze on three strong legs while one rests,

Warm sun, cool mornings, lie together at night for safety and warmth.

The trees are cottonwood trees, dressed in their colorful, late-autumn best. They are in the same family as the aspens. :)

I have always felt the strongest bond with horses....
